The soil should be kept slightly moist but never soggy—water only when the top 1–2 cm of soil dries out, as the plant is sensitive to overwatering and prone to root rot. It prefers warm conditions, with an ideal temperature range of 18–30°C, and should be protected from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Ming Aralia loves high humidity (60% or more), and low humidity often leads to leaf drop, which is a common issue. For healthy growth, use a well-draining, airy soil mix, ideally combining 40% cocopeat or peat, 30% perlite or sand, and 30% compost or vermicompost.

For best results, choose fine-leaf or fern-leaf Ming Aralia, preferably dwarf or young plants, as they adapt better to confined environments. Avoid using large-leaf varieties such as Fabian Aralia or Balfour Aralia, as they quickly outgrow terrariums and struggle in high humidity.
